Los Números

Date: March 2022
Target Audience:  Bilingual parents raising and teaching kids both English and Spanish
Tools: Lens Studio, Adobe Illustrator
Role: Augmented Reality, Snapchat Filter

Bilingual parents who feel confused about the challenges of raising kids in a multicultural family and teaching kids both English and Spanish need to find some tips for raising bilingual kids. Los Números Snapchat filter was created to help teach the users, particularly young kids, number systems in Spanish in a more fun and interactive way. With the "Hand Joints" template from Lens Studio, the filter encourages the user to engage with the app more actively by using their hand gestures.

1. BRAINSTORM & CREATE AN USER JOURNEY
I sketched a simple user journey to describe the process of interaction between a user and a product and to communicate my designs through the lens of the users’ goals.

2. FIND AN APPLICABLE TEMPLATE
The Hand Joints template includes the outlines of each finger shape and the different effects of the particles when the users are making certain finger gestures. I added 3D text effects to put each number system in Spanish and placed each on the top of the user's fingers. I also made all the motions of the color in different colors to bring a more fun and dynamic vibe.

> Challenge

The biggest challenge that I faced while working on this project was the placement of the texts. Because this filter includes five different hand gestures, I had to adjust the placement including the heights and positions of each text. Although it was tedious work, I had to be careful of the placement of the texts so that the text doesn’t cover the hand gestures.

This project not only helped me to learn about a Lens Studio tool but also taught me how augmented reality can make the educational process more fun and engaging for the users.
